The main thing society teaches us is that to have security,we must have money. So what if dad barely sees his kids,at least the family's financially secure right! Family values are going down the toilet and being replaced with the notion that being successful in life depends on how much money you have in the bank! And if money is your main concern in life, then there's no room for God.
"No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money." (Matthew 6:24)
So who will you devote your life to? God or money? Is stature and money more valuable than your soul? Matthew 16:26 says; What good will it be for you to gain the whole world, yet forfeit your soul? Or what can you give in exchange for your soul?
It's always a blessing to have enough money to pay your bills and take care of your family, but if money is the main force driving you, there's a problem! Sadly, some people let money control their lives to the point where they put a price on their own bodies to have it. Can you put a price on yourself? What are you worth? $10,$1000,$1,000,000? If you can put a price on yourself, Satan has a checkbook ready!
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (1 Timothy 6:10 )
Do not wear yourself out to get rich; have the wisdom to show restraint. Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle. (Prov 23:4-5)
Serve God and follow Him only! Always be content with what you have, and wait patiently on the Lord, and he will fill all of your needs...
